My kois eat a full 50lb bag of food every 2 month. Feeding depends on temp. They can actually survive without food for the entire winter , but the water would need to be near freezing. It rarely , if ever falls below 60 here and stays about 77 year round. Thus they grow year long.
All the kois you see are only 1-3 years old and are imported from Japan. The small orange ones are just regular comets. The two white kois in the lower right corner are only 1 year old.
It looks like you're living in high latitude area. And yes the Koi can eat nothing during hibernation. I live in southern California, there has no winter. So they can be feeding the whole year. My oldest Koi is 4 years old, approx 2 feet long.

i try to feed them 6-10 times a day; one full coffee mug sized cup. usually about ever hour to two.
Wow, that's well design and beautiful!
Just feel the capacity of Koi overload.
