Hi, I'm new to this forum, but Sr Leigh super fan. I'm very grateful for the help he brings. I have a 2015 ML350, with about 75K miles.
I recently started changing the spark plugs and found on the last spark plug from passenger side some oil, not on the threads but on the side of the ceramic and where the coil makes contact. It was not dripping in oil but some oil at least.
Apparently this is not a common issue for the M276 and can't find info on how to remove and seal the valve cover. My fear is that once you open the cover I'll have to put same black sealant instead of just installing a rubber seal like in the BMW's. I did this job to a BMW with the N52 and it wasn't that hard. I'm not sure how it's done for this engine so any guide would be great. Also let me know how bad you think the problem is. I don't have check engine light and I assume leak is very low since most likely that was the original spark plug from factory. Also I notice in the coil a red hose around the coil, the rest of the coils don't have that, It's weird but looks factory, just wonder why.
Thanks all.
I'm thinking this could be a one or two weekend job. I know the feeling of brake expensive things and then spend on repairing things you was not expecting, so I do like to take as much time as needed. Taking coffee breaks, every time I start getting frustrated works better for me. I'm in day 2 of changing the spark plugs....
Hi, there is a problem with the pdf for Mount high pressure lines. Could you send that one again?
Taking a quick look at the files it looks it won't be an easy job. I'll need to start evaluating if the leak is worth to get it fixed since it didn't looked too bad to me, but most likely I might be wrong. I'll need to estimate parts I'll need and for sure I'll need to talk to some of my friends for help since I don't want to screw something.
This will be my most challenging job so far, not sure if I'm excited.
But thanks for the files, they are Gold.
Hi, yes is passenger side. I'll start reading and document the process as best I can. I might need to do this next month since I'm already planning to do trans fluid for both cars. Based on your Vid of course so thanks for that again. Thanks for the great help and taking the time on this. I hope this helps more people.
Okay, all you need the guides are below. You might complete your work based on these documents. Good luck! If you can, please take photos or videos to publish here to help more friends to solve the same issue.
I am pulling the documents from WIS now base your VIN. So you need to remove/install the right (passenger side) cylinder head cover, right? Because the right and the left are different steps.
Some one from the MBworld forum shared this file to me. I hope you also find it useful since it's for the M276 and I guess is independent from the chasis.
There is missing information about how to apply and where to apply the sealant. Also not very clear how describing how to take out things. I guess fuel injectors are delicate.
Hi Sr Leigh really appreciate your support. Is naturally aspirated. This is the VIN in case it helps 4JGDA5HB9FA598072
Hi b_iriarte,
Welcome to the forum.
I can try to find out the guides of WIS that how to remove/install the valve cover. Let me know, is that M276 naturally-aspirated or turbocharged?
